The Quality & Research Settings window lets you control exactly which quality levels of items viewers can purchase through chat commands, how much those qualities cost, and whether research is required before items become available.
📍 Accessed by clicking the Quality/Research button in the top-right of the Store Editor.
Toggle each tier on/off. Only enabled qualities appear for viewers:
- Awful (🔴 red swatch)
- Poor (🟫)
- Normal (⚪ white)
- Good (🟢 green)
- Excellent (🔵 blue)
- Masterwork (🟣 purple)
- Legendary (🟠 orange)
Each quality has an adjustable price multiplier (shown as percentage in the UI):
| Quality | Default | Example Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Awful | 50% | Half price |
| Poor | 75% | Mild discount |
| Normal | 100% | Base price |
| Good | 150% | 50% more expensive |
| Excellent | 200% | Double price |
| Masterwork | 300% | Triple price |
| Legendary | 500% | 5× more expensive |
How it works
- Enter values as percentages (e.g.
800= 800% = 8× base price) - Multipliers stack with the item’s base price set in the Store Editor
Require Research toggle:
- Enabled (recommended): Viewers can only buy an item after your colony has researched the required tech (uses RimWorld’s vanilla research tree).
- Disabled: All items are available from day one (great for casual/chaos streams).
🔄 Reset Multipliers button
Restores all 7 multipliers to the defaults above and refreshes the window.
💾 Auto-save
All changes are saved automatically when you close the dialog.
- Balanced economy — Increase Masterwork/Legendary multipliers (600–1000%) and disable Awful/Poor to prevent early god-tier spam.
- Progression mode — Keep Require Research on and use higher multipliers.
- Casual mode — Turn research off and lower multipliers.
- Changes take effect immediately for all new purchases.
