Tutorial_explore data
This section shows the various possibilities of data screening implemented in SysSon.
Back to Table of Contents.
- Select the data source element
in your workspace - Click the eye button
to get a detailed view - Select any one-dimensional data-vector and plot it by following Action / Plot 1D... in the menu bar
- Plot a histogram by following Actions / Plot Distributions...
- Calculate anomalies by following Actions / Calculate Anomalies...
- Concatenate matrices by following Actions / Concatenate Matrix...
Have a look for a three-dimensional matrix plot example here.
Visit The Data Source Window to get an overview of its functionality.
Starting point for screening your data is the workspace that is already filled with the data sources of your choice. Learn how to load data to your workspace here.
Select the data source of your choice and click the eye button
to open it for a detailed view.

In the upper part of the data source window you will see the meta data. If there is no meta data this part will be empty. The lower part will give you some information about the contained data vectors and matrices.

For one-dimensional vectors you have the ability to plot them for visualisation. Select the desired vector, follow Action / Plot 1D... in the menu bar.

A window with the according plot will appear to give you a first impression of the selected data vector.

There is a zoom-in function to get a detailed view. Left-click and drag a rectangle over the area of interest from left to right. To zoom-out do the left-click again and drag from right to left.

Get an overview of the data distribution by following Action / Plot Distribution... in the menu bar. A histogram and a cumulative histogram will give you further information about the selected data vector.
Zoom-in and zoom-out to select an area of interest.

For some applications it can be interesting to calculate the anomalies of the data. Follow Actions / Calculate Anomalies... to start the process. A dialogue window will inform you about the assumptions that will be made to give you a reasonable output. Select the "Average Years" according to your needs and click OK to go on.
Choose a file location on your volume. A file in the NetCDF format will be stored. The Log-Window will keep you informed if the calculating process is concluded.

Select the first matrix in The Data Source Window and follow Action / Concatenate Matrix... in the menu bar. Select the second matrix out of its data source window and drag and drop the matrix into the second target sign
. Press Concatenate and save the new matrix in the NetCDF format on your volume.
