📐 Maintainability & Code Quality | 🟠 Major | ⚡ Quick win
Fix the mypy failure in the quality job.
The django-stubs mypy plugin resolves apps.get_model() calls that use string literals. HistoricalStudentCompetencyCriteriaStatus does not exist, and this test relies on that. The plugin therefore fails with Could not match lazy reference with any model [misc], and tox -e quality fails.
To fix this, pass the model name through a variable. The plugin then cannot resolve it statically. You can also add a scoped # type: ignore[misc].

+ apps.get_model("openedx_learning", historical_model_name)🧰 Tools

Go through this docstring. What information does a developer truly need? What is already explained in an ADR and doesn't need extra information here? How can we make this docstring one short paragraph that only contains informations that is critical to the developer when he looks at this file?

We need to verify that the count is the same before and after deletion attempt. This only checks after; fix this test.

Looks good to me, though Codex found one bug. It was concerned that the ticket explicitly states we need the created and modified dates to be automatically set, but according to the comments (src/openedx_learning/applets/cbe/models/learner_status.py::7-8) this is intentional due to a limitation on the library and we'll set these 'manually', so we can ignore this.
Raw Codex Output:
Details
Verdict: one blocking contract mismatch found.- [P1] Bug — timestamps do not satisfy the ticket.
[learner_status.py:152-153](https://github.com/jesperhodge/openedx-core/pull/21/files)usesmanual_date_time_field(), socreatedandmodifiedare neither auto-populated nor updated automatically. A normal.objects.create(...)without timestamps fails with a database integrity error, while ticket openedx#642 explicitly requiresauto_now_add=Trueandauto_now=True. The acceptance test only checks that the fields areDateTimeFields and always supplies timestamps, so it misses this behavior ([test lines 40-57](codex://review?pr=https%3A%2F%2Fgithub.com%2Fjesperhodge%2Fopenedx-core%2Fpull%2F21&path=tests%2Fopenedx_learning%2Fapplets%2Fcbe%2Ftest_criterion_status_acceptance.py&line=40&side=right)). Either implement the ticket’s timestamp contract or formally amend the ticket and add an explicit caller/API contract for manual timestamps.
No other actionable correctness, security, migration, FK, indexing, or test defects found in the submitted diff. I did not run the suite locally because the target repository is not checked out in this workspace; the PR metadata reports its targeted checks and SQLite/MySQL verification.

The django-stubs mypy plugin resolves apps.get_model() string literals statically, so looking up a model that must not exist fails the quality job. Scan the app's registered model names instead. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
Shorten the learner_status module docstring to one paragraph that holds only what the ADRs do not, and trim the user fixture and acceptance test docstrings. Explain why the model accepts a lower status written over a higher one. Remove the no-history and exact-columns tests, and make the subtag delete test compare the tag count before and after the attempt. Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

Not really, it just restates the model definition. Removed it in openedx#854.

Done, it's StudentCompetencyCriterionStatus now, and I renamed its migration to match (openedx#854).
