chore: move remaining api.thisisatest.tech references to api.agentmiddleware.dev - #222
Moves every remaining api.thisisatest.tech reference outside site/ to api.agentmiddleware.dev (same paths). Separate from #219; server.json, README.md, QUICKSTART.md, gateway/docs/README.md and gateway/tests/test_server_json.py are left to #219.
live_script_target.py: CANONICAL_PRODUCTION_ORIGIN is now https://api.agentmiddleware.dev; the old host is kept in LEGACY_PRODUCTION_ORIGINS so it still requires --confirm-production (new test case added).
public_contact.py: api.agentmiddleware.dev added to the blocked booking hosts; api.thisisatest.tech kept blocked.
test_human_accessibility.py negative assertions on the old host left as-is.
Low Risk
Mostly documentation and default URL strings; live-script production guards remain fail-closed, with legacy host still requiring explicit confirmation.
Overview
Switches the canonical hosted API from https://api.thisisatest.tech to https://api.agentmiddleware.dev across defaults, docs, ops scripts, and tests (outside deferred site/ / README work in #219).
Defaults and integrations:PUBLIC_URL in .env.example, partner bootstrap / constant-test / rotation examples, and AutoGen/CrewAI base_url defaults now point at the new host; callers can still pass base_url explicitly for the old origin.
Safety unchanged, host names updated:live_script_target.py treats api.agentmiddleware.dev as canonical production and keeps api.thisisatest.tech as a legacy production host—both still require --confirm-production (including non-443 ports). public_contact blocks booking URLs on the new API host the same way as the old one.
Tests/docs mirror the new URLs; changelog documents the integration default change.

It looks like this branch is under active development. To avoid overwhelming you with review comments due to an influx of new commits, CodeRabbit has automatically paused this review. You can configure this behavior by changing the reviews.auto_review.auto_pause_after_reviewed_commits setting.
The canonical production origin changes to https://api.agentmiddleware.dev. The previous host remains a legacy production host, and both hosts require confirmation regardless of scheme or port. Gateway documentation, script examples, tests, and integration defaults now use the new origin. Public contact validation also blocks URLs whose hostname is api.agentmiddleware.dev.
The new default API host must resolve and serve /health before this ships, or SDK users who omit base_url will fail to connect. The public-contact blocklist also still accepts a trailing-dot variant of the blocked API host. Confirm DNS, TLS and health, and normalize the hostname, before merging.
Security architecture risk: Low · up to 900bb
The new production destination preserves existing credential handling and strengthens production-target confirmation. No introduced security weakness was established, but deployment readiness and equivalent authorization and data access at the new host remain unverified.
Retained concerns
No architecture-level concerns identified.
Security review details
Security Blast Radius
inferred — The destination change affects framework clients constructed without an explicit override and operators following the updated bootstrap examples. Such requests carry the configured caller's credentials, potentially including an operator bootstrap key. The code does not grant a new role or broader credential scope; effective exposure depends on the credentials used and the service behind the new origin.
Trust Boundaries and Controls
observed — The shared SDK sends X-API-Key to the configured origin, rejects control characters in credential headers, and disables automatic redirects. These pre-existing controls remain unchanged; they do not independently establish that the newly selected origin is the authorized replacement service.
observed — The live-target resolver compares normalized hostnames before returning a target. Both canonical and legacy production hosts require confirmation, including non-default ports, while non-loopback HTTP remains rejected. This broadens rather than weakens the previous production gate.
Resilience and Maintainability Implications
inferred — The patch adds no cross-origin failover, state migration, or recovery protocol. Existing permit replay, invocation, and client-cleanup behavior remains unchanged. Consequently, safe continuation of credential and wallet operations across the host cutover depends on deployment and stored-state continuity that source inspection cannot establish.
Hardening Proposals
proposed — Before releasing the changed defaults, confirm destination ownership and routing, the stated health prerequisite, and authenticated tenant/wallet behavior against the intended deployment. Verify credential-store and data continuity, including whether reverting to the legacy origin remains a valid rollback. Treat these as cutover checks, not evidence that the new host is unsafe.

Delta review of #222 at 8bcdb51. Most of it is right, but there is one blocker.
Blocking
There is an unresolved CodeRabbit thread at gateway/tests/test_core_db_qa.py:365, and it is valid. The PR swaps the booking-URL negative case from https://api.thisisatest.tech/book to https://api.agentmiddleware.dev/book. _BLOCKED_BOOKING_HOSTS still blocks both hosts, so the legacy host loses its coverage. Keep the legacy case and add the new host as a second case.
There is a stray old-host mention outside the intentional set: gateway/.env.example:17 (# PUBLIC_URL=https://api.thisisatest.tech). Update it, or say why it stays.
Verified OK
live_script_target.py: the new canonical host and LEGACY_PRODUCTION_ORIGINS both require --confirm-production. I probed the resolver directly. Uppercase, a trailing dot and an explicit :443 all normalize and are gated. .., userinfo and plain http are rejected. The tests cover the new host with case, trailing dot and :443, plus the legacy host unconfirmed.
Non-blocking: a non-default port (https://api.agentmiddleware.dev:8443) and the legacy uppercase/trailing-dot alias aren't gated or tested. The port behavior is the same as before this PR. Consider gating on the host instead of the full origin, and adding a legacy alias case.
public_contact.py: api.agentmiddleware.dev is added to _BLOCKED_BOOKING_HOSTS.
CodeQL fix: test_mcp_discovery_wedge_gate now asserts the exact line **Base URL:** https://api.agentmiddleware.dev\n.
Repo-wide grep outside site/: apart from .env.example, the remaining old-host mentions are intentional. They are the #219 files (server.json, test_server_json, gateway/docs/README), the legacy/CORS/blocked lists, LEGACY_PRODUCTION_ORIGINS and its test, and negative asserts (test_human_accessibility, test_audit_low_surface, sdk test_trust_client).
Behavior change: the autogen and crewai integrations now default base_url to https://api.agentmiddleware.dev. Any user who relies on the default is moved to the new host, so this needs a changelog/release note.
I found no invented data. CI is green.
Merge gate:api.agentmiddleware.dev returns NXDOMAIN right now. Don't merge until DevOps's health check returns 200 on the new host.

Confirm the new production endpoint before merge.
The AutoGen and CrewAI integrations now use https://api.agentmiddleware.dev by default. The endpoint returned an empty response and curl: (52), so DevOps must confirm that /health returns the expected HTTP 200 response before merge.

Agreed. This is the merge gate, not a code defect. api.agentmiddleware.dev returns NXDOMAIN right now, and #222 (with #219) must not merge until DevOps confirms /health returns HTTP 200. I'm leaving this thread unresolved on purpose so it keeps blocking the merge until then.
The reason will be displayed to describe this comment to others. Learn more.
Delta review of #222, 8bcdb51 -> bbeb46c (1 commit, 5 files). All four fixes check out.
test_core_db_qa: the legacy https://api.thisisatest.tech/book negative case is back, and the new-host case is kept alongside it. The CodeRabbit thread there is resolved.
gateway/.env.example:17 now reads # PUBLIC_URL=https://api.agentmiddleware.dev. A repo-wide grep finds no old-host mention left in any .env.example.
live_script_target now gates on the normalized hostname (CANONICAL_PRODUCTION_HOST plus LEGACY_PRODUCTION_HOSTS). I ran the resolver against both hosts in every combination of lowercase or UPPERCASE, with or without a trailing dot, and with no port, :443 or :8443. All 24 unconfirmed variants are refused with --confirm-production, and all 24 resolve once confirmed. A non-production host on :8443 still resolves without confirmation. The new test covers :8443 for both hosts plus the confirmed case.
The root CHANGELOG [Unreleased] entry records the AutoGen/CrewAI base_url default change and how to keep the old host.
CI is all green and the PR is mergeable. I found no invented data.
Non-blocking: CANONICAL_PRODUCTION_ORIGIN and LEGACY_PRODUCTION_ORIGINS are no longer used by the guard. Remove them in a follow-up if nothing else imports them.
Merge gate: one new CodeRabbit thread on CHANGELOG.md:7 asks to confirm the endpoint is live. It is the DNS/health gate, not a code issue. api.agentmiddleware.dev still doesn't resolve in DNS, so this PR must not merge until DevOps's health check returns 200. I've left that thread open so it keeps blocking the merge.
Blocker: api.agentmiddleware.dev has no DNS record right now. dig returns no A record (agentmiddleware.dev NS is bluehost), and curl https://api.agentmiddleware.dev/health fails to resolve. This PR changes runtime defaults, not just docs: the base_url defaults in the autogen/crewai integrations and the public_contact host list. Shipping it would point every SDK user at a host that doesn't resolve. api.thisisatest.tech/health returns 200.
Conflicts with current main (34 commits behind) in CHANGELOG.md and integrations/crewai-agent-middleware/src/crewai_b2a/tool.py. It needs a main merge (no rebase).
The CI on this head is green but predates main.
Re-review once DNS and /health return 200 and the conflicts are resolved.

Normalize the blocked hostname before comparison.
urlsplit() preserves a trailing dot in parsed_url.hostname. Therefore, https://api.agentmiddleware.dev./book does not match this exact set entry and passes validated_public_contact. The provider manifest can then expose the equivalent API host as the website.
Normalize the parsed hostname with .casefold().rstrip(".") before the membership check. Add a negative-path test for the trailing-dot form.

remerge-diff: only the 2 conflicted files differ from the automatic merge.
CHANGELOG.md: the PR's base_url entry and main's Upstream MCP entry are both kept, and the conflict markers are gone.
crewai_b2a/tool.py: main's sync_client_factory Field(default=None, exclude=True, repr=False) is kept, and base_url is the PR's https://api.agentmiddleware.dev. The resolution is correct.
Nothing was lost: the PR's net diff against main (merge-base..bbeb46c compared with 95b2d42..c4f73b1) has the same file list and the same +/- lines. The range-diff shows only main's commits as new.
git grep thisisatest -- integrations finds nothing, so main brought back no old-host references.
No made-up data was added.
ruff check on the crewai and autogen integrations: all checks passed.
Local pytest: couldn't run, because the amw-45-rr venv doesn't have crewai or autogen and installing is not allowed. CI's "Framework integrations" job passed on this head.
CI on c4f73b1: lint, CodeQL, gitleaks, licenses, Framework integrations and Vercel passed. The gateway Python 3.11–3.14 jobs and Postgres proofs were still pending when I reviewed. This PR's diff doesn't touch gateway/, but please wait for them to go green before merging.
Correction to my review at c4f73b1: the PR's net diff touches 18 files under gateway/. It doesn't skip gateway, as I said. The verdict stays the same, because that diff is unchanged from bbeb46c, but the pending gateway Python 3.11–3.14 and Postgres proofs jobs must be green before merging.
Scope: moves the remaining api.thisisatest.tech references outside site/ to api.agentmiddleware.dev. The server.json, README, QUICKSTART and test_server_json changes are left to #219 as stated.
I grepped the head. The thisisatest references that remain are intentional: the legacy-host guards in live_script_target.py and public_contact.py, the CORS allowlist in config.py, negative assertions in tests, and the CHANGELOG note. None is a default target.
Local: 6071 passed, 103 skipped. CI: all required checks green. The branch is BEHIND main but mergeable.
Note: this switches defaults to api.agentmiddleware.dev, whose /health did not respond in r22 (#219). Code-wise it is fine to merge, but live scripts and integrations will target that host once merged.
