Imperative postInstall hook stops other plugins from being installed #2844

Describe the bug

Given that a user runs zowe plugins install plugin-A plugin-B
When the plugin-A throws an error in its AbstractPluginLifeCycle.postInstall() function
Then the plugin-B is not installed

Expected and actual results

Expected the error to be recorded using the PMF's recordIssue functionality.
Also expected to be able to install plugin-B

  • Zowe CLI version installed (run command zowe --version): 8.35.3
  • Installed plug-ins and their version numbers (run command zowe plugins list --short): None
  • Node.js and NPM versions installed (run node --version, npm --version): any version of NodeJS and NPM
  • Environment variables in use: N/A
  • Operating system and version: MacOS
  • Shell/terminal (bash, cmd, powershell, etc...): zsh
  • Daemon mode enabled or disabled: disabled

Found this while implementing a postInstall lifecycle hook in the DB2 plugin:
