Studio Docking broken

Acknowledgement of preliminary instructions

• I have read the preliminary instructions, and I am certain that my problem has not already been addressed.

What problem did you encounter?

Trying to dock Studio windows (Explorer, Properties, etc.) causes the screen to flicker and does nothing. Using DXVK as is shown in troubleshooting has no effect on the issue.

System information

* Vinegar: v1.7.8 
* Distro: Freedesktop SDK 23.08 (Flatpak runtime)
* Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 7735HS with Radeon Graphics
  * Supports AVX: true
  * Supports split lock detection: false
* Kernel: 6.8.0-50-generic
* Wine (Player): wine-9.22 (Staging)
* Wine (Studio): wine-9.22 (Staging)
* Flatpak: [x]
* Cards:
  * Card 0: nvidia 0000:01:00.0 /sys/class/drm/card1
  * Card 1: amdgpu 0000:35:00.0 /sys/class/drm/card2

install umu launcher then launch studio using this command:

WINEPREFIX="~/.var/app/org.vinegarhq.Vinegar/data/vinegar/prefixes/studio" GAMEID=0 PROTONPATH=GE-Proton umu-run "$(find ~/.var/app/org.vinegarhq.Vinegar/data/vinegar/versions/ -name "RobloxStudioBeta.exe")"

From the kernel version I can figure out you're using ubuntu or an ubuntu-based distro, since ubuntu doesn't have an umu-launcher package in their repos I'm gonna make a quick guide on how to install it.

Get the ubuntu zip file here and extract it.

Before you install you might need some dependencies first, run sudo dpkg --add-architecture i386 && sudo apt update then run sudo apt install python3-xlib python3-filelock apparmor-profiles libgl1-mesa-dri:i386 libglx-mesa0:i386

then cd into the extracted folder and run sudo dpkg -i *.deb

Then look at the comment above on how to run studio.

alright then run flatpak run org.vinegarhq.Vinegar studio exec winecfg and enable emulate virtual desktop also change the resolution to the one of your screen

then run studio using flatpak run org.vinegarhq.Vinegar studio run

It still flickers any time I do stuff with the windows but now I can at least dock them.

I can concur that this is an issue, and the given "fix" works.
("Fix" in quotes since it's kind of annoying to use, I can't resize the internal window)

using studio with emulate virtual desktop is practically impossible, but i managed to get my windows docked and then just disabled it. still a massive bug

Testing Roblox apps with a Continuous Integration (CI) service like Actions would involve running Roblox Studio in Linux containers; which would be a lot less trouble if it weren't necessary to install so many things ( many of which aren't packaged): Proton WINE, Vinegar flatpaks, WebView2 Quality of Roblox apps might improve if it were possible to run [jest] tests with Studio in CI on git push, like for example rust tools like aftman and wally. Is there an easy way to run tests in their hosted instances service? Setting FFlags to support debug loadModule in Studio requires running studio, which can't be done at container build time FWICS. It looks like the login URL generated from/for Roblox Studio is printed to stdout; which is good because WebView2 doesn't work on Linux (\*) and there's no browser in the container to login to studio with

Hi, I also have exact same issues. The windows does flick but not really that badly, but it refuses to dock. I have same problem when it comes to emulating virtual desktop, it just sucks to use. I think that docking is obviously not supported on linux so I feel this is something that developers should push out soon.

I had installed Mesa vulkan support, NVIDIA gpu drivers, etc, doesn't help so I assume this is some kind of input issues

Workaround: To reset Roblox Studio docks to the original layout: - Ctrl-P "> reset view" Enter - (and allow studio to restart)
