Describe the bug
After running ./gradlew portalInit, the local environment is unable to start due to Execution failed for task ':overlays:SimpleContentPortlet:dataInit'.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

1. git clone https://github.com/uPortal-Project/uPortal-start.git
2. ./gradlew portalInit
3. FAILURE: Build failed with an exception.
4. Execution failed for task ':overlays:SimpleContentPortlet:dataInit'.

Java returned: 1

Expected behavior
Portal initialized.

This appears to be related to Simple Content Portlet breaking.
The long term fix is uPortal-Project/SimpleContentPortlet#397.
The post in Google groups describes a work around until the long term fix is applied and released.
