I only disagree with the final sentence about believing in LLM used in chats and public communications, which made me shudder but that's just me in 2026.

oh i actually meant it the other way — currently that's unrestricted, and i think it should be restricted. (at a minimum i think we should have the same rules for Zulip as for Github issues: no comments by an LLM unless clearly quoted.) |

Happy to approve it too. And I'd like to thank you, Jynn, for spending so much time, energy and effort on this whole thing. The amount of thinking, discussions, arguments, bikeshedding, reacting to endless and often contradictory change requests that you had to go through to get this policy landed is simply extraordinary.

The goal of this post is framing.
People are going to talk about the policy one way or another;
making an official statement allows us to influence what they talk about.
I try to frame this in terms of moderation:
We need a policy, currently our options are something official or backrooms,
the main benefit of this policy is that it makes our rules more clear for new contributors.
The post is written from my perspective as the author of the policy.
In some places I speak about the values of the project with "we" and "our",
but I try not to speak about the policy or about LLMs in that voice.
Happy to do copy-editing there if you prefer.
