BungeePortals

BungeePortals is a simple portal engine supporting BungeeCord server transfers. This version has been updated to Java 25 for Spigot/Paper/Purpur Minecraft Dedicated Server 26.1 and later.

This is a drop-in replacement for older versions of BungeePortals released by YoFuzzy3 and cedrik00.

Requirements

  • Java 25 is required.
  • A BungeeCord compatable Minecraft proxy is required. (Including BungeeCord, Waterfall, and Velocity)
  • Known supported MC server software: Spigot, Paper, and Purpur.
  • WorldEdit/FastAsyncWorldEdit is Required.

NOTES

  • This may still run on some older Minecraft/server versions, but the plugin was compiled with Java 25.
  • FastAsyncWorldEdit (FAWE) is the preferred WorldEdit implementation.

Installation

  1. Put the plugin jar (for example BungeePortals-2.0.0.jar) in your server plugins folder.
  2. Start the server once to generate:
    • plugins/BungeePortals/config.yml
    • plugins/BungeePortals/portals.yml
  3. Make sure your destination server names match your BungeeCord config.

How It Works

  • Portals are stored as block coordinates in memory and saved to portals.yml.
  • Entering a portal block sends a BungeeCord plugin message (Connect) to its destination.
  • Players must leave a portal block before it can trigger again (anti-loop behavior).

Commands

  • /bportals
    • Shows help.
  • /bportals reload
    • Reloads config.yml and portals.yml into memory.
  • /bportals forcesave
    • Saves current in-memory portal data to portals.yml.
  • /bportals select <filter,list>
    • Uses your current WorldEdit cuboid selection.
    • 0 = no filter (all blocks in selection).
    • Otherwise use comma-separated material names as shown by Bukkit/Spigot Material names, for example:
      • STONE
      • OAK_PLANKS,GLASS
  • /bportals clear
    • Clears your stored BungeePortals selection.
  • /bportals create <destination>
    • Creates portal entries for every block in your stored selection, targeting <destination>.
  • /bportals remove <destination>
    • Removes portal entries for every block in your stored selection.
    • Current behavior note: the <destination> argument is accepted for command syntax, but removal is based on selected block locations (not destination matching).

Selection Workflow

  1. Get the WorldEdit selection wand with //wand.
  2. Make a WorldEdit cuboid selection.
  3. Run /bportals select 0 (or provide a material filter list).
  4. Run /bportals create <destination> or /bportals remove <destination>.

Permissions

  • BungeePortals.command.BPortals
    • Access to /bportals commands.
    • Default: op
  • BungeePortals.portal.*
    • Access to all portal destinations.
    • Default: true
  • BungeePortals.portal.<destination>
    • Access to a specific destination.
    • Not defined in plugin.yml by default, but checked at runtime.

Config

config.yml keys:

  • SaveTask.Enabled
    • Enables periodic portal autosave.
  • SaveTask.Interval
    • Autosave interval in seconds (scheduled as server ticks internally).
  • NoPortalPermissionMessage
    • Message shown when a player lacks destination permission.

Data Format

  • portals.yml stores portals as:
    • key: world#x#y#z
    • value: destination server name
