#### Active Directory

When connecting to Microsoft Active Directory, login may fail with an error like *failed to map the username to a DN* even when bind credentials and search filters are correct. This often happens because AD returns referral responses that `python-ldap` follows by default.

Disable LDAP referrals in your `config.yaml`:

```yaml
ldap:
enabled: true
server_uri: "ldap://ldap.example.local:389"
bind_dn: "DOMAIN\\ldap_bind"
bind_password: "secret"
search_base_dn: "DC=example,DC=local"
search_filter_str: "(sAMAccountName=%(user)s)"
global_options:
OPT_REFERRALS: OPT_OFF
```

After changing LDAP settings, restart the InvenTree server and worker containers so the configuration is reloaded.

!!! tip "Debugging"
Set `INVENTREE_LDAP_DEBUG=True` while troubleshooting, then disable it again once authentication works.

Fixes [#12224](https://github.com/inventree/InvenTree/issues/12224).
