Map Browser
This page describes Map Browser 1.0.0 for Timberborn 1.1.
Map Browser adds a main-menu browser for installed custom maps and a search view for Steam Workshop maps. It lets you inspect map information and manage Workshop subscriptions without leaving the game.
This page was last updated for version 1.0.0 on August 10th, 2026.
Open the Map Browser button next to Load map in the main menu.
The Installed view lists custom maps available in the game. Depending on the map and available Workshop data, a map entry or its details can show:
- the map title and description;
- a preview image and additional gallery images;
- map dimensions;
- Workshop publication date, votes, and subscriber count;
- indexed map classifications such as forests, water, settlement space, islands, canyons, and mountains.
Open a map's details to inspect the information and available action.
The Find maps view searches the indexed Steam Workshop map catalog. You can combine free-text keywords with filters for:
- forests;
- water;
- settlement space;
- islands;
- canyons;
- mountains.
Search results are paginated. A result can be opened in the details view before subscribing to it.
Use Subscribe on a Workshop map in the search results or details view. Map Browser downloads the map and refreshes the available maps without requiring a game restart.
For a subscribed Workshop map, Unsubscribe removes the subscription. You can subscribe to the map again later.
For a local map that is not associated with a Workshop item, Delete permanently removes its local map file after confirmation. This is different from unsubscribing and cannot be undone by Map Browser.
If a Workshop item is no longer available, Map Browser marks it as unavailable and disables the subscription action.
The Workshop search view uses the latest available public index snapshot. A map may be absent from that snapshot, or its analysis may be marked stale after the map changes. Live Workshop details such as votes and subscriber count may also be unavailable when Steam cannot provide them.
