This software is not affiliated with MCC DAQ in any way. It just happens to be used for projects with MCC DAQ counter modules.

Windows Setup:

1. Install MCC DAQ Software

Can be found here: https://digilent.com/reference/software/mccdaq-cd/start

2. Install this Software

2.a Binary Release

Go to https://github.com/klockeph/mcc-daq-acquisition/releases and download zip file containing a binary (.exe) file and a config (config.yaml) file from there. To run, unzip, and in the command prompt navigate to the folder and enter

scan_counter.exe

to run without on-line correlation analysis. To add auto and/or cross- correlation analysis, add -a and/or -c respectively to the above command.

If you want to modify the code, don't use windows or cannot use the binary release for any other reason, follow the manual instructions below:

2.b Manual Installation

Download and install anaconda from https://www.anaconda.com/download

Open Anaconda Prompt (windows menu, search for anaconda)

In Anaconda prompt enter:

pip install -r requirements.txt

(you can also try conda install instead of pip install but probably it won't work for all packages)

Navigate to wherever you stored this software. E.g.:

cd Documents\mcc-dac-acquisition\

Then run the script by entering

python scan_counter.py

Two optional keyword tags -a and -c can be added to add online auto and cross-correlation analysis e.g.:

python scan_counter.py -a -c

to display both auto and corss-correlation or

python scan_counter.py -a

for just auto-correlation

3. Enjoy!

Press [Space] in the graph-window to start a measurement. Press it again to stop and save it.

If you need to change any parameter, look in config.yaml

4. Known Errors

If you're getting an error that some freetype library is missing you have to install it from e.g. https://github.com/ubawurinna/freetype-windows-binaries according to https://stackoverflow.com/questions/55291132/runtime-error-freetype-library-not-found .

Note that this also requires Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable für Visual Studio 2019. You can find this e.g. at https://visualstudio.microsoft.com/de/downloads/ (Under the "other" dropdown)

Other Things:

If you want to build an executable (after changing the script), use PyInstaller: https://pyinstaller.org/en/stable/

You will have to edit scan_counter.spec to include your venv/site-packages directory!

pip install pyinstaller
pyinstaller scan_counter.spec
