Security Best Practices

When deploying Soketi.rs in production:

  1. Use HTTPS/WSS: Always use TLS encryption for WebSocket connections
  2. Secure Secrets: Never commit secrets to version control
  3. Rate Limiting: Configure appropriate rate limits
  4. Authentication: Enable authentication for private and presence channels
  5. CORS: Configure CORS to allow only trusted origins
  6. Updates: Keep Soketi.rs and dependencies up to date
  7. Monitoring: Enable metrics and monitoring
  8. Network Security: Use firewalls and network policies
  9. Database Security: Secure database connections with strong passwords
  10. Redis Security: Enable Redis authentication and use secure connections

Known Security Considerations

WebSocket Security

  • Always validate and sanitize user input
  • Implement proper authentication for private channels
  • Use rate limiting to prevent abuse

API Security

  • Validate all API requests
  • Use HMAC signatures for webhook verification
  • Implement proper CORS policies

Infrastructure Security

  • Keep Docker images updated
  • Use non-root users in containers
