GHC 8.6 and 8.8 don't have unlifted newtypes, so Option is a type synonym for those versions.

GHC 8.6 and 8.8 don't have unlifted newtypes, so Option is a type synonym for those versions.
There are no tests, so I haven't tested this. It builds across all versions, though.
