TL;DR

Keep local agent instruction files out of normal Git staging.

Design doc: #1816

How it works

Add basename ignore rules for AGENTS.local.md and AGENTS.override.md at every directory depth. Shared AGENTS.md remains trackable. The contributor guide explains scope and tracked-file limitations. Refresh managed guidance revision metadata.

Verification

  • git check-ignore -v → root/nested local files ignored; --no-index confirms shared filenames remain eligible.
  • git diff --check origin/main → clean.
  • make lint fmt:check test → checks skipped: no affected code components.

TL;DR

The PR author must acknowledge the current diff and description before requesting review.

Author review acknowledgment

The PR author acknowledged this commit.

@mamamiyear: read the current diff and description, then check:

Does the description accurately explain the mechanism shown in the diff?

Use the form best suited to the change. Check drafts too, and repeat this review
after description edits. Post this as a new PR comment:

Unacknowledged PRs are converted to draft. After this check passes, click Ready for review when you want reviews.
Only a new, unedited comment from the PR author counts. A new commit requires a new acknowledgment.
This records the author's acknowledgment of the commit, not an automated judgment of the description; maintainer approval is separate.

📝 Walkthrough

Walkthrough

The .gitignore file now excludes .worktreeinclude, AGENTS.local.md, and AGENTS.override.md. In AGENTS.md, the guidance marker revision changes, its SHA-256 value remains unchanged, and a blank line is added before the end marker.

Merge Risk: 🟡 Moderate · up to 66419

The ignore rules behave as intended, but the managed guidance block has a stale hash and should be regenerated or restored before merge to avoid agent-tooling drift.

Explanation

[#1816] .gitignore uses basename rules for AGENTS.local.md and AGENTS.override.md, and the AGENTS.md guidance revision is refreshed. However, the current head removes the Local agent instructions section from CONTRIBUTING.md. This leaves the requested contributor guidance on ignore scope, shared AGENTS.md, and tracked-file limits unmet. The PR description reports the requested ignore and whitespace checks.

Full details: Out of Scope Changes check

Explanation

The current head adds a .worktreeinclude ignore rule in .gitignore. Issue [#1816] and the current PR description concern local agent instruction files; neither establishes a connection to .worktreeinclude.

Remove the blank line from the managed guidance block.

The blank line is between the managed markers. It changes the hash-covered content, so sha256=c3ed8d66f7e1 no longer matches. Remove the blank line and rerun ./.agent-tooling/install.sh. This finding does not require changing rev=592fd726154f.
