Plugins App: Dashicons fail to render inside the plugin inspector shadow root #1056

Closed

Description

@KarunyaChavan

When opening the details inspector for any installed plugin in the Plugins app, the icons associated with the fact cards (such as Version, Plugin file, Size on disk, and Status) and the hero status chips fail to display. Instead of showing their intended Dashicons glyphs, they render as empty blank spaces next to each label.

Steps for Reproduction

  1. Launch OpenStation and open the Plugins window.
  2. In the "Installed" plugins library (either card or table view), click the Details button on any installed plugin (e.g., Gutenberg or OpenStation).
  3. In the slide-over inspector panel, switch to the Details tab.
  4. Observe the header area of each fact card (such as "Version", "Plugin file", "Size on disk", and "Status").

Expected v/s Actual

  • Expected: Each fact card and status chip displays its corresponding Dashicons glyph (e.g., a tag icon for dashicons-tag, a document icon for dashicons-media-document, a database icon for dashicons-database) alongside its label.
  • Actual: The icons render as empty, invisible 14×14px spaces because the document-level Dashicons CSS cannot pierce the inspector's Shadow DOM encapsulation.
