Inspect agent rollouts locally.
RLViz opens existing agent traces in a keyboard-first viewer. Read each model, tool, environment, grader, and artifact event; compare trajectories; and trace normalized data back to its raw source record. The source is never modified.
Open a supported file directly at rlviz.dev. Parsing and indexing stay in the browser tab. The default collection is a reviewed public Terminal-Bench pass/fail cohort, with synthetic examples still available in Settings. Use the CLI for larger traces, growing files, private formats, and local adapters.
Browse reviewed, revision-pinned public evidence at benchmarks.rlviz.dev. The catalog shows source and review provenance before handing an exact bundle to the viewer.
brew install TheSnakeFang/tap/rlviz
rlviz inspect ./path/to/rollout.ndjson
rlviz open ./path/to/rollout.ndjsonOther installation paths use the same native binary:
npm install --global rlviz
curl -fsSL https://rlviz.dev/install.sh | shRun rlviz with no source to restore the last usable trace or, on first use,
open three deterministic synthetic examples. rlviz guide prints the same
concise guide available as a workspace module in the viewer.
- Opens canonical NDJSON, Letta trajectory v1 JSON, Harbor ATIF v1.5-v1.7,
complete local Harbor job directories, reviewed
.rlvizbundles, Inspect AI EvalLog JSON, Verifiers GenerateOutputs JSON, and explicitly trusted adapter output. - Browses one trajectory or a collection with truthful event positions, adjustable fidelity and depth, trial grouping, landmarks, and a draggable timeline viewport.
- Queries indexed rollout cohorts by run, task, checkpoint, model, outcome, reward, tokens, cost, and tool use, with paginated results and cohort totals.
- Arranges rollout modules as rows or columns, pins rollout-specific detail, and keeps the active module's shortcuts visible in the bottom keybar.
- Compares trajectories with deterministic behavioral alignment and a first meaningful divergence.
- Runs locally: the CLI binds to loopback, makes no outbound requests during viewing, stores only a removable SQLite index, and keeps optional labels and descriptions in browser storage without changing the source trace.
RLViz does not run agents, execute recorded tools, train models, manage prompts, or provide hosted monitoring.
Coding agents can query the local index and compose the browser workspace without rendering traces in the terminal:
rlviz trajectories ./path/to/rollout.ndjson --failed --json
rlviz workspace open ./path/to/rollout.ndjson --trajectory TRAJECTORY_ID --jsonOpen a complete Harbor job directory with the same command. RLViz treats the job as one read-only source and combines its trials, trajectories, rewards, token and cost totals, CTRF verifier evidence, failures, and artifacts:
rlviz inspect ./jobs/example-job
rlviz open ./jobs/example-jobCreate a new portable file only after reviewing its contents and redaction. The command does not upload or overwrite anything:
rlviz bundle create ./jobs/example-job \
--out reviewed-job.rlviz \
--title "Reviewed example job" \
--license CC-BY-4.0 \
--reviewed --redaction-confirmedOpen the resulting file in the CLI or at rlviz.dev. See portable sharing for the exact v1 boundary and the explicit-consent, digest-pinned public HTTPS handoff.
Probe the source first:
rlviz formats
rlviz inspect --json ./path/to/private.traceFor a private format, scaffold a project-local process adapter, review its executable code, then trust and validate that exact digest:
rlviz plugin init --type adapter --from ./path/to/private.trace .rlviz/plugins/private-format
rlviz plugin trust .rlviz/plugins/private-format
rlviz plugin validate .rlviz/plugins/private-format ./path/to/private.trace
rlviz open ./path/to/private.trace --adapter .rlviz/plugins/private-formatSee the adapter authoring guide and supported formats.
