When an operator selects a feature branch or tag in the manual-run dialog, workflow_dispatch uses that ref's commit, and this workflow checks out github.sha before unconditionally deploying the artifact to the production github-pages environment. This can replace the live documentation with an unreleased or stale build; GitHub explicitly allows manual workflows to target any branch or tag. Restrict manual runs to the intended production ref, such as with a job-level if condition, before enabling this trigger. GitHub workflow-dispatch documentation
