Summary

SaladCloud's new GPU prices are now live: High, Medium and Low priority rates went up, and Lowest priority rates stayed the same. A few docs pages quote specific hourly rates in worked examples and cost comparisons, and those still showed the old numbers, along with savings percentages calculated from them. A reader comparing costs would have seen RTX 4090 and RTX 4080 rates lower than what SaladCloud now charges. This updates those rates and percentages to match salad.com/pricing, and switches one billing example to a GPU that's listed there so it can be checked. No price-change notice had been added to the docs, so there was none to remove.

Changes

  • AWS Batch migration: RTX 4090 is now $0.440 High, $0.347 Medium and $0.253 Low (was $0.330, $0.273 and $0.217). Lowest is unchanged at $0.160. High priority is now 56% less than g5.xlarge (was 67%). The priority savings table and code comments are recalculated from the full public price table: Medium about 15–20% (unchanged), Low about 30–40%, Lowest about 45–65% below High.
  • YOLOv8 deployment: RTX 4080 High is now $0.270 (was $0.230), so the saving against Azure is about 78% (was 81%).
  • YOLOv8 training: RTX 4080 rate is now $0.27, and the total training cost is "about eighteen cents" (was fifteen).
  • SCE billing: the GPU example used an RTX 3060, which isn't listed on the public pricing page. It now uses an RTX 5060 (8 GB) at $0.082 Low, for $0.41/hr across 5 replicas.
  • Transcription billing: the middle volume tier header said 8,444–16,666 hrs; it's now 8,334–16,666 to match the public page.

Prices that already matched and weren't changed: CPU-only rates, Lowest rates on the Lambda migration page, AI Gateway per-token prices, and Transcription tier prices.

Validation

  • Every rate was checked against salad.com/pricing, salad.com/ai-gateway and salad.com/transcription on November 2, 2026. The GPU classes API wasn't used (expired key), so classes missing from the public page, like the RTX 3060, weren't checked.
  • Prettier and cspell pass on the changed files.

Update RTX 4090 and RTX 4080 rates and the savings percentages derived
from them, switch the SCE billing GPU example to a publicly listed class,
and fix a Transcription volume-tier typo.
