Welcome to the GitHub organisation for the National Digital Twin (NDT) Applications.
This organisation hosts the open-source applications developed by the National Digital Twin Programme (NDTP), a high Technology Readiness Level (TRL) research and development programme within the Department for Business, Innovation, Science and Trade (BIST). These applications, also referred to as demonstrators, showcase how National Digital Twin technologies can be applied to solve real-world challenges across sectors, bridging the gap between research, innovation and operational deployment.
Alongside application source code, you will also find supporting documentation, tools and libraries that enable developers, partners and collaborators to build, evaluate and extend these applications.
Our open-source applications demonstrate practical uses of National Digital Twin capabilities through a range of operational and research scenarios.

IRIS – Originally developed to support domestic retrofit programmes, particularly ECO4, IRIS is evolving into a broader platform to support delivery of the UK's Warm Homes Plan. Its development roadmap focuses on integrating property and occupant data—including, where appropriate, information such as DWP benefits data—to provide a richer understanding of homes and their residents, while improving interoperability with local authorities and partner organisations involved in housing and retrofit delivery.

VISTA – A platform for data-driven emergency planning and situational awareness that brings together multiple data sources to help planners and responders understand asset criticality, assess potential impacts and support informed decision-making before and during incidents.

LISA – A multi-agency coordination platform designed to improve information sharing and operational collaboration during complex incidents, helping organisations respond more effectively to emergencies such as major fires, pandemics and other civil contingencies.

NOVA – A geospatial decision-support platform that enables users to explore the feasibility of infrastructure and development scenarios through interactive mapping. While initially developed for renewable energy generation and storage, its flexible design supports a wide range of planning and investment use cases.
As additional applications are open sourced, they will be published through this organisation.
Note: The source code for these applications is open source; however, the operational data used to power them is not. Government organisations deploying these applications are expected to access data under their existing licensing arrangements (for example, Ordnance Survey data licensed through their own agreements). Organisations or individuals outside government are responsible for sourcing and integrating equivalent datasets appropriate to their own use case. This approach ensures the applications remain open, reusable and adaptable while respecting the licensing and governance requirements associated with the underlying data.
The National Node Net is data sharing infrastructure public code managed by the National Digital Twin Programme, and designed to support and enable data sharing ambitions in the UK across government, industry, academia and the wider open source community.
The reference implementations, deployment tooling and documentation for Nodes, Node Nets and the National Node Net are maintained in the dedicated National Node Net GitHub organisation.
