Do you want to take over newtype? This package is very stable so the maintenance effort is minimal.
I am not using it so I should/want not be maintainer.

Things I deem important:

• newtype stays in Stackage
• every release is tagged in the repo with a vVERSION label and has a changelog entry
• CI stays (reasonably) up-to-date
