Situation

The release notes for npm@12.0.0 and the CHANGELOG 12.0.0

state:

unknown configs in .npmrc, unknown CLI flags, abbreviated flags, and single-hyphen multi-char shorthands now throw instead of warning.

the changes to .npmrc erroring on unknown keys has been reverted for npm 12: #9729

Suggestion

Correct the release notes concerning the description of handling unknown keys in npm 12.
