License FAQ

Can you summarize what Just In Case's license allows?

The license grants free rights to use, modify, and redistribute Just In Case source code for personal or nonprofit purposes. The intent is to stay permissive for those uses while limiting commercial abuse of Companion Intelligence products.

Just In Case is an offline emergency knowledge search app, packaged to run on Companion Hub.

Just In Case uses the PolyForm Noncommercial License 1.0.0. The full text is in LICENSE.

What freedoms do you have as a Just In Case user?

If you use Just In Case for personal or nonprofit purposes, you can view, modify, and redistribute the source under the same license terms, subject to the PolyForm Noncommercial restrictions.

Can I fork Just In Case?

Yes. For noncommercial use, you can fork, modify, and redistribute Just In Case under the same license.

Can I contribute to Just In Case?

Yes. Open a pull request on this repository.

Can I sell Just In Case?

No. Selling Just In Case, including paid access to a hosted instance, is not permitted. For commercial partnership questions, email partner@companionintelligence.com.

Does this license apply to the rest of Companion Intelligence?

No. Companion Portal stays a separate commercial product. Most other Companion Intelligence product repositories use the same PolyForm Noncommercial terms in their own repositories — see the org's open-source rollout tracker for the current list.
