The license grants free rights to use, modify, and redistribute Companion Hub source code for personal or nonprofit purposes. The intent is to stay permissive for those uses while limiting commercial abuse of Companion Intelligence products.
Companion Hub uses the PolyForm Noncommercial License 1.0.0. The full text is in LICENSE.md.
If you use Companion Hub for personal or nonprofit purposes, you can view, modify, and redistribute the source under the same license terms, subject to the PolyForm Noncommercial restrictions.
Yes. For noncommercial use, you can fork, modify, and redistribute Companion Hub under the same license.
Yes. See CONTRIBUTING.md.
No. Selling Companion Hub—including cloud-hosted instances, home-server or appliance hardware that ships Companion Hub or its derivatives, paid support for those products, and similar commercial offerings—is not permitted. For commercial partnership questions, email partner@companionintelligence.com.
Companion Memory, Companion Capture, Companion Marketplace, Companion OS, and the Companion Browser Extension use the same PolyForm Noncommercial terms in their own repositories. Companion Portal stays a separate commercial product.
Portal is the commercial convenience layer: authentication, public web, and paid add-ons (Pro at $9/month or $99/year; extra device $5; extra subdomain $1; custom domain $4; user support $29). Those add-ons are optional capacity. They do not buy you the right to run Hub. Hub is already free to run for personal and nonprofit use under this license.
