RA Browser Use
Copyright (c) 2026 RunAnywhere AI
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Nanobrowser
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
RA Browser Use is a fork of Nanobrowser (https://github.com/nanobrowser/nanobrowser),
Copyright (c) the Nanobrowser authors, licensed under the Apache License,
Version 2.0. A copy of that license is included in the LICENSE file at the root
of this repository.
This is stated plainly and deliberately: this project is not merely "inspired by"
or "derived from" Nanobrowser. It is a fork of it, adapted for local on-device AI
and powered by the RunAnywhere SDK. The agent architecture, DOM serialization, and
extension foundation are Nanobrowser's work.
Nanobrowser's full commit history is preserved in this repository's git history,
which was merged in rather than squashed, so the provenance of every inherited
file remains inspectable via `git log` and `git blame`.
Upstream is tracked as the `upstream` git remote:
git remote add upstream https://github.com/nanobrowser/nanobrowser.git
git fetch upstream && git merge upstream/master

Modifications
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This project modifies Nanobrowser substantially. The significant changes are:
* On-device inference. Adds a RunAnywhere Web SDK backend
(WebAssembly + WebGPU, running inside a Chrome offscreen document) as the
default model provider, so browser automation runs entirely on the user's
machine with no API key and no cloud service. The upstream cloud providers
remain available.
* Rebranding. Extension name, icons, description, and user-facing copy are
RunAnywhere's rather than Nanobrowser's.
* User interface. The side panel and options pages are substantially rewritten
against the RunAnywhere design system.
* Reliability and browser control. Changes to conversation-history management
and to the browser input/perception layer.
Individual modified files are not annotated inline; the merged git history is the
authoritative record of what changed relative to upstream.
