Is RuSTy affiliated to any specific organization/company?

Before asking I would like you to know that I am impressed by the current state of project, it is very promising.
I was wondering whether or not the RuSTy project is affiliated or possibly sponsored by any specific company?
I've noticed people contributing here working at Bachman electronic GmbH and would like to know whether RuSTy is a pure passion project or backed by a company in any way?

Hello and thanks for your interest.
The project started as a hobby project to learn more about compilers. It eventually got picked up by the company I work for (Bachmann electronic) but we agreed to keep it open source. Currently all the main developers you see on the project are employed by Bachmann to work on the compiler.

Development and new features are being driven by Bachmann but we try to keep them generic enough. If we need an internal feature we first formulate a generic compiler use case and then implement the specific details internally.
That said we also accept contributions from the community whenever they come we keep the same policy there they need to make sense for the compiler in general.

Very interesting.
May I ask whether RuSTy is currently used in production at Bachmann?
Or is the compiler in a kind of testing phase?

We're still in Testing phase. There are some missing features we consider essential (like object orientation and some codesys compatibility to name a few) and we still need to make sure everything is stable. You can already use the compiler for many things. I've previously implemented advent of code examples using RuSTy, we also use it internally on test hardware, but it's not yet release ready I would say, we have some quirks here and there and as mentioned the OOP features among other features.
